So I would like to call this meeting of the business improvement area subcommittee to order for Tuesday, June 16th. Please be reminded that all electronic devices are to be switched to a non-audible function during committee meetings. We begin with a roll call. Please indicate your presence when I call your name. I have regrets from counselors hang and Paul's councelor Moren Wilson. Uh Susie Braithweight International Village also sent regrets. Tracy McKinnon from Westdale, >> present. >> Jennifer Madden from Ancaster, >> present. >> Adrienne Meckley from Hess Village, >> present. >> Susan Penny from Waterdown. >> I am here. [laughter] >> I love the enthusiasm. Doris Sanchez from Concession. Betina Shoreman from Lock Street. David Taylor from Dundas. >> Good morning, present. >> Emily Walsh from downtown. >> Good morning. President >> like I see her face. Uh Stephanie Wiler from Ottawa Street. >> Hey everyone. >> Myself from Barton Village and Brennan Weton International Village. No. Okie dokie. I will now read the land acknowledgement. The city of Hamilton is situated upon the traditional territories of the eerie neutral Honend Hodneson and Missagas. This land is covered by the dish with one spoon wampom belt covenant which was an agreement between the Hnoson and Anishnabek to share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. We further acknowledge that this land is covered by the between the lakes purchase 1792 between the crown and the missagas of the credit first nation. Today, the city of Hamilton is home to many indigenous people from across Turtle Island. And we recognize that we must do more to learn about the rich history of this land so that we can better understand our roles as residents, neighbors, partners, and caretakers. May I have a mover and seconder to approve the agenda as presented? Moved by Jennifer, seconded by Emily. Are there any amendments from committee members to the agenda? Going once. Um, if no, then can I see a show of hands to uh approve the agenda? That motion is carried. like taking notes at the same time here. Okay. Are there any declarations of interest? Not all at once, you guys. Uh seeing none, may I have a mover and seconder to adopt the minutes of the May 19th, 2026 meeting as presented. Moved by David, seconded by Tracy. Any discussion on the minutes? Seeing none, please indicate your vote. Looks like that motion is also carried. [snorts] Okay. Uh items for information for those providing presentations today. Please remember the presentations are limited to 10 minutes. First, we have item 7.1, overview of the Main Street two-way conversion and its impact on business improvement areas. I would like to call upon Brian Hollingsworth, director uh engineering services to please begin your presentation. >> Thank you for the introduction. Zoom up here. Okay, >> there we go. Okay. Uh, as mentioned, uh, Brian Holler, director of engineering services for the city of Hamilton. Uh, I also have with me, uh, Shane Given, who is the project manager who's been leading, uh, over the past, uh, couple years the design for the Main Street project. And we have Ed English who's manager of construction whose team will be uh implementing this when it gets going. Uh thank you very much for the opportunity to present on the Main Street 2A conversion project or as we're calling it now the Main Street uh revitalization and redesign project. Um you may wonder uh why we um opted uh to come to the whole BIA committee uh for this what might seem as a localized project but we see it as an opportunity uh to kind of socialize uh a project that will have uh citywide impacts. Um, we also see it as an opportunity perhaps to maybe not in detail in the meeting, but draw on the experiences of different BAS uh through their major construction projects or pending construction projects. Uh, Lock Street comes to mind that was done a few years ago. Uh, there's a a very big one going on underway in Waterdown with the bridge uh 451, Grindstone Creek replacement. Uh, and Barton Street uh will be uh well, the resurfacing will be starting soon. So all these kind of have have lessons learned and we just see a two-way dialogue as as being quite useful. So my presentation will be fairly short. I'm going to provide an overview of the project. Talk about some related ongoing projects which includes the water main lining project which is happening as we speak. Um talk about uh how some of the things that we envision doing uh for this project to mitigate business impacts and then uh share some brief lessons learned on on other projects. Um so the project uh as mentioned we're calling it the main street renewal and redesign project because it is a major uh project that will um go from Dunder Avenue all the way to the delta in the east end. Uh it it involves road rehabilitation, resurfacing, two-way conversion, safety improvements, and uh a lot of other things that I'll get into momentarily in this presentation. Uh the two-way component was directed by by council in 2022. Uh and since then we've been working uh to bring the the project to fruition and we are almost there. [clears throat] So the project as mentioned will will include full resurfacing. Uh anyone who's driven on Main Street today uh around Dendern Lock uh will uh not dispute the fact that it needs rehabilitation. Uh it'll include rebuilding of all the the cur what we call curb ramps. um to modern standards. So, they'll include the urban braille and the the uh tactile warning strips. Uh it'll include enhanced cycling facilities between Victoria Avenue and Sherman Avenue. Uh all of the traffic signal infrastructure u not necessarily related to the two-way, but it will be upgraded because it is decades old. There's going to be some street lighting improvements and um the of course the two-way conversion to to two-way flow uh similar to James and John was done [snorts] many years ago. the in terms of the project timelines, uh we are basically wrapped up the detailed design and we're preparing the tender. We're going to pre-qualification to make sure that we get uh the best and most capable contractors bidding on the project and we expect to award uh the work in um in summer for September construction. I just wanted to touch on the uh uh the water main lining project. So, uh, you'll see that the road is, uh, highly impacted as we speak. Uh, what's happening there for those that are interested is we're basically, uh, cleaning out and relining the the, uh, local water man. Uh, and we're doing that deliberately to make sure that we're not ripping up the road again come 5 years. So, uh, that will extend the life of that water man for, uh, many, many decades. And I, I think, uh, when complete will be, um, a much appreciated project. But it has certainly caused some traffic impacts. [snorts] Uh the design, I should mention that the design is now uh public. Um it'll look a little bit different than what you see on the screen here. Uh uh there's if you just Google Main Street Revitalization Project, you'll come up with something we call story maps and you can kind of zoom into different locations and and see what we're proposing. But for the purposes of this meeting, just to inform the discussion, I thought I'd just uh summarize it very briefly. So from Dunduran to Victoria, essentially what we're looking at is uh maintaining three lanes uh going eastbound and and one lane going westbound. Um it should provide a lot of benefits in terms of uh improved uh traffic circulation. Uh also um achieve some of our safety objectives in terms of uh calming traffic speeds a little bit. Uh we see that third lane as providing some flexibility in the future for things like on street parking or bus lanes. [sighs] uh Victoria to Sherman. Uh this will be where we're um kind of turning it into a real cycling facility uh with cycling facilities on on both sides of the roadway all the way from Victoria to Sherman. Uh that will have some impacts on on parking. Uh but overall uh it should be a much more complete street uh when when finished. And then the the easterly segment uh where it's a little bit more residential in na in in nature. Uh we opted for a design which carries two lanes eastbound, one lane westbound and uh a lot of curb extensions like what you see in green here uh and greening opportunities as well as on street parking. [clears throat] Um this construction staging uh we will be breaking it into different stages. So, the first stage will be uh going along and repairing the curbs and sidewalks. Uh a lot of them are in disrepair. It won't be a full sidewalk uh replacement. We'll just be doing the work that is needed. Uh I mentioned the curb uh ramps. Um installing all the curb extensions to the east, the cycling infrastructure, and the underground electrical. So that will be kind of they'll just move along along the corridor and uh close close a lane uh to get it done uh and prepare the prepare the road for the next phase uh which will be uh milling and paving and resurfacing. So some of you may have experienced this. We did a section on King Street uh through the downtown uh last year. Uh I think it was done in in a weekend. Uh this is a much longer corridor, so it'll take take a little bit longer, but um fairly um I won't call it a simple process, but it'll it'll move along quickly throughout the corridor. Uh we will be looking at some night work to minimize impacts to to local businesses, and we'll be keeping uh lanes open for uh transit and other vehicular needs uh throughout this uh paving process. And then the final stage will be the actual um energizing the signals and opening it up to two-way traffic. [sighs] In terms of um business impacts, uh there's there there will probably be many um you know at the high level just changing the corridor in terms of adding the new direction of travel uh adding active transportation facilities and changes to parking uh will impact businesses. Uh there will be changes to access as well. Um we do envision that all driveway access that's there today will be will be maintained. Uh some some movements uh will be prohibited. Um for example, left turns across three lanes of traffic. Um we're we're [clears throat] looking at restricting some of those movements at unsnalized intersections. And we'd be happy to meet with um uh the affected BAS to explain uh things in more detail in a future meeting. I think that's being planned. Um the I I keep mentioning this, but you know, as we've experienced from other two-way conversions, the the the two directions of travel um albeit a major change does open up a lot more opportunities for businesses and accesses. And you can um confirm or or deny that. But I think our one-way streets are not conducive to um you know helping people get to get to businesses when they need to and a lot of uh re unnecessary routing and then of course the construction impacts which I've gone through which hopefully we can uh minimize but there there certainly will be uh localized closures in some cases. Uh moving on to the consultation and engagement. Uh we have put a lot of effort into things and they're starting to roll out. I mentioned the website and story map. Uh our our colleagues in communications and economic development have been uh tremendously helpful on this project. Uh we're actually uh dropping off postcards as we speak to all businesses along the corridor of the businesses highlighted in the map here. So, um, maybe you'll start hearing soon that that some of your businesses are receiving those postcards. It includes a QR code with further information and directing people to the website. Uh, Economic Development has has created an Invest Hamilton web page uh with targeted outreach and materials for for businesses. Um, I think it's hopefully will be very wellreceived and we'll continue the the engagement and consultation throughout the entire summer prior to construction. Just rounding out the presentation, some of the lessons that we've learned uh from previous projects uh is to consider business operations uh and needs early. Um uh that's kind of why why we're here now. Um the project won't start till September, albeit um oh, somebody can't hear the speaker. Albeit um there are impacts due to the water main lining and we we we respect that. uh work with all the businesses to mit mitigate impacts where possible, provide clear and timely information. Uh we're looking at some signages, some enhanced signage to indicate that businesses are open during construction. And you know, we're we're open to any other uh suggestions that uh folks uh think would be helpful in including suggestions from other other BAS who might not belong the main street corridor. So that concludes my presentation. Um, I apologize to the person who said they couldn't hear. Um, but, um, uh, happy to take any questions. >> Are there any questions for Brian? >> Adrian. Yeah. >> Can we see the timeline map again? um up your slide [clears throat and cough] um based on based on this slide um is construction the start of construction and then what is the estimated completion? >> Yeah, so [clears throat] our our our current target is to have construction underway or the tender be awarded in September of 2026. uh that's still an aggressive target. We you know the tendering process does take uh some effort but the whole team is uh aligned around that start timeline and then we envisioned that it will uh take place uh in the the three stages that I talked about uh and be completed by the end of 2027. I should also mention that we're breaking it up into two tenders uh largely because uh it's a it's a it's a big project and we see having two contractors kind of one starting at Denduran and then another starting at uh Victoria both working eastwards uh will will help minimize the overall duration for the project. >> Just another question regarding that. Is it fair to assume that unrelated to this but related LRT construction cannot start until this is finished? >> We're working closely with with the LRT team. Um they're developing their uh detailed designs and and phasing plans as we speak. Um, I think there will be opportunities to make sure we're kind of offset, but at this point, um, you know, we think we'll be done before they get the the majority the the larger components going. Um, and to answer your question, no, [clears throat] this this Main Street 2-way project uh is not delaying LRT construction. Uh Susan um just from experience in waterown I know that uh it on this timeline it talked about some public engagement back in 2022 and 2024. Um I'm not sure if you are planning to get particularly with some of the impacted BAS and other people in that area. Um, if you have any engagement planned on what that tender looks like before it goes out because we did run into some problems that the public consultation here was done after the tender was awarded and there was very little opportunity to change or add to or consider some of the um the issues that had had real impact here in Waterown. And then that meant either things that weren't able to be added because the project had already been awarded as designed or that things had to be changed and ended up costing more money. So that's part one of my question uh for those uh people that are most most in that area that might want to have a little bit of um consultation on what that tender actually looks like. And then just as an aside, the open for business signs were promised to Waterown and we had several emails reaching out and we've never seen an open for business sign come to fruition here in Waterown. So, um those are just two things based on our experience with the bridge project. >> Uh through the chair, um good suggestion for the the first one. Um we are meeting hoping to meet with the downtown BIA and international BIA who are uh most affected by this project and kind of talk about you know things like construction staging and and and get their input. So I think that's that's a good suggestion. And in terms of the open for business sign um I have Ed English who might be able to comment on that or we can where we can have a separate followup. >> Yeah. Okay, thank you for that insight, Susan. Are there any other questions? Emily, thank you. Um, through the chair, do we have any idea of what the holiday season will be looking like and what kind of construction will be happening uh during those months? Uh we'll likely still be in the concrete um repair of curb and sidewalk and uh intersection improvements as far as traffic lighting goes in December. >> Okay. Thank you very much. Okay, if I can pass the chair to Susan real quick. I have a couple of questions. Um, [clears throat] is there intention, just out of curiosity, to uh recynchronize the lights? Um, I think it's a well-known fact that if you drive a certain speed down Maine currently, uh, you hit every green light or every red light on your way, is there intention to to do that post construction >> uh, through the chair? Yeah, they'll all be rettimed. They'll have to be rettimed because of of the add the new direction of travel. Um, they they were actually de uh synchronized uh as part of the 2022 project. um whether to the the degree that was noticeable is is uh up for question based on your comment but but they were synchron des synchronized to slow down traffic. >> Fair enough. Thank you. As Barton Village I don't often travel Maine if I'm honest. Um co second question for you is uh you did mention there was going to be some lost parking. Are there plans around um recovering some of those spots? uh through the chair. Um the there will be losses in parking um uh including through International Village just because of the new lane of travel. So the the one westbound lane can't serve as a parking lane. Uh we're still looking at opportunities for some uh pockets on the the south side. Um that's not possible where there's a cycling lane. Um, I think there will be also loading impacts as well because right now you can um, you know, just there's three, four lanes. It's it's pretty easy to to pull over and do loading. So, we're we're we're cognizant of that. Um, but that's part of the that's part of the two-way the two-way project. So, it'll have to occur on side streets, uh, off streetet parking lots, etc. >> Okay. And and I I well that's what I was going to say too is that um I think it's important to remember that um until recently parking was banned along in the peak periods along the entire corridor. >> Fair enough. I'm I'm sure that those BAS that are impacted from that will have an interest in regaining um some of their on street parking revenue. Um my third question if it's okay is um obviously Barton anticipates some of the overflow traffic um as the impacts happen along Maine um and you mentioned uh the shave and pave situation that's supposed to be occurring um beginning relatively imminently. Um, and maybe this is something we can take offline. I have some some questions around uh specifically through sort of the Victoria to Wentworth stretch um where our lovely medians exist. Um whether or not we can address some issues there because um it's my opinion that uh we would not be prepared for that increase in traffic through that corridor. Uh so uh yes we are looking at the staging and the overflow impacts. I would note that uh right now um you know traffic's basically down to two lanes sometimes one lane between Dunduran and um uh McNab. Um that's a little ways from Barton Barton Barton Village uh and Wilson Streets down as well. So by the time this starts up um the water main line lining project which has significant impacts will will obviously be done. Uh Wilson Street I believe will be largely wrapped up. So and your uh Ed can talk about your Barton Street paving but that will be um pretty much complete as well. >> Great. And oh, and one other point too is that uh during during the construction of the main street um renewal project uh and I can comment on this, we we will be leaving lanes of traffic open. So it won't be like a uh a lock street or a York Boulevard where there's complete lane closures. >> Wonderful. >> Yes. As as Brian had mentioned, the Main Street uh water main lining project will be done uh before the Main Street two-way conversion happens. Wilson Street uh and Sherman will be completed before the two-way conversion begins in September. And likewise, Barton will be completed um we anticipate Barton Street will be completed about midepptember if not sooner. So, all of those projects will wrap up before the main street uh commences. >> That's good news. I'm sure there's lots of folks that are looking forward to the end of some of those projects >> and and the idea um the way that the project is going to be staged and the phasing within those stages. We'll do one side of the road first. So the entire road isn't isn't being chewed apart. We'll go along on let's say the south side first and do all of the intersection work halfway across. So there will be two lanes open on the north side and then likewise when the south side is done we'll move traffic to the south side and commence work on the north side. The last thing we'll do would be the shave and pave uh and line painting. So, we're hoping to have access for each and every business for the full duration of the project. Everybody will have access. Uh there may be there may be times where perhaps into a parking lot if it's a if the sidewalk happens to be damaged, we'll be able to stage uh the replacement of the curb and sidewalk so that you can still access half of the uh half of the driveway, get into the parking lot uh while the other side is being redone and then switch it over. So, we anticipate there won't be any problems with that. >> Wonderful. >> Tracy. >> Okay. I'm going to take the chair back from Susan. Uh Tracy, >> thank you very much um through the chair. Apologies if you had mentioned this, but we had some audio issues, so I'm not sure if PR had mentioned that or not. Um just wondering if the um two-way conversion is going to stop at Dundurn. There's no plans right now to go uh past Dund towards Westdale at the moment. Is that correct? >> Uh through the chair. Yes, that's correct. And thank you. That's a that's a really good question. um as as part of the LRT project uh there will be some work uh done around the 403 interchanges and we're waiting for that to happen before we extend the two-way conversion further. So technically it's at the the resurfacing is going to the CPKC bridge uh just on the west side of Dunduran and the the two-way will stop at Durn. >> Okay. And for you have a few more questions. Um, while you're doing all the uh conversion on Main Street, will there will there always be access to Lock Street for people to turn in? >> Yes, there may be restricted access on lock. So isolated incidents where we may need to close off a section of lock uh in order to run the new traffic signal ducts across, but it'll only be isolated times. It won't be, you know, a full closure for weeks at a time. It would more than likely be like a half a day at a time. >> Okay. Thank you. Um and that won't go much further. It'll operate just a little like a block or so at most. I'm sorry. Could you >> like when when sorry when you're uh doing things like the traffic signals at Main and Lock, you won't be going really far down lock. That's just in the immediate. Okay. >> Just in the immediate intersection. >> Okay. Thanks. And you share a few more questions. Brian, you mentioned that we had specific questions about some things like no left turn and so on. So the summit lock, we we weren't given the opportunity to have input. So when you say you'll meet to discuss, is that just to explain, not really to try to change it? >> Um, in in terms of Lock Street, Shane can correct me if I'm wrong. All all movements will be provided at signalized intersections. I'd have to confirm that. But >> yeah, but if there's um I never thought about Lock Lock Street in terms of getting, you know, um into that level of detail, but but uh we would be more than welcome to meet with Lock Street to get your input on all things happening on Main Street. because I thought I saw no left side, low left turn, but I just want to make sure that people can turn into log left or right either direction off off me. That's mostly my concern >> through the chair. We'll we will reach out to you and we'll go through the the plan with you. >> Perfect. Thank you so much. I appreciate that. Thank you. >> Thank you, Tracy. Emily, go ahead. >> Yes. Sorry, I was just reminded uh through your comments about uh opportunity that we saw and throughout this whole process uh we've kind of thought of uh this project as an opportunity to add some uh art along that section whether it's crosswalk paintings or pole roughs or whatever like that. And uh we've kind of always been told that we are not at that point in the process yet. Do you know when the point in the process to discuss adding those kinds of things would be? Um, we can we can discuss that in in our one-on-one meeting. Um, the project at at the moment doesn't include things like pole wraps. Um, but we'll we can um look at the proposals and and see if things can be incorporated. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Go ahead, Adrian. >> Sorry. Um to carry on on Tracy's question about Dundurn, just as a Hamiltonian who lives in the West End, just so we're clear, you know, five lanes come off the highway at Dundurn there and then it's going to have to get chopped down to two-lane traffic there, right? So just to anticipate a headache for a bit there until it's resolved. Uh no be uh it'll be very similar to the way it's been operating from 2022 up until the time the water main lining project started. Uh where it will the the five lanes will feed into into three lanes. So generally the the left turn a lot will turn left onto Dundurn. A lot of people turn right. So we we've been operating with the three-lane configuration for for three four years now. Will there be changes? Absolutely. But we've we've modeled it all and it and it works. >> Any other questions? >> I've I've long said that I think when people are uh doing their driver's ed tests like coming off the highway and then hanging a right on Dunder, if you can do that, you're probably good to go. Um thank you so much for your presentation. Sorry, Tracy, I didn't see you. Go ahead. >> Sorry, I stuck in when we're talking about Dunder. That's the question. When all this is being done, there are no plans to have like Dunder and Aberdeen closed when the construction's going on on Main Street. I hope because people do turn right to kind of get through the neighborhoods. The locals said, "No, is that going to happen or >> we're we're acutely cognizant of that. Um, and we wouldn't envision ripping up Aberdine for the larger Aberdine project uh until Main Street is is uh stabilized. >> Perfect. Hopefully the same. Nothing undone during too. Thanks. Okay. Um, thank you again for your presentation. You're welcome to stick around, but you don't have to. Gets kind of boring from here for you guys. So, um, we currently do not have quorum since it looks like Susan has stepped out. Um, which means, uh, I can't move her second or receive this information until Susan returns. So, we're just kind of in holding at the moment. Hopefully Susan can hear me. So, through the chair, we will then go into recess while we wait for Susan to return. >> Okay. Please hold. have a mover and a seconder to receive uh the information from Brian and his team. Moved by Emily, seconded by Steph. Uh all in favor? That motion is carried. Okay, the real exciting stuff. Uh, general information, other business 11.1 updates from the business development office. Christina Gesler, business development and business improvement area officer is here with an update for the committee. Christina, take it away. >> Thank you. Good morning, everybody. Um, okay. So, um, I processed everyone's second levy payments. Um, so hopefully you have all received the money by now. If you have not, please send me an individual message. Um, and I will follow up with that. But those were pro those were submitted to accounts payable some time ago. So hopefully you guys have all seen your money. um and that these second levy payments will take into account reconciliations either deficits or surpluses um based on the taxation reports that are circulated the end of year 2025 reports. Um in addition all of the um grant motions those check requis requisitions were processed as well. I did ask accounts payable to process them separately because they often will lump them together and I know sometimes it's hard to differentiate the payment is for what. So hopefully they did that. If you see a lump payment they might have missed that one because they there was a big wave of them that all went in. Um but again if you can check and make sure that you have received all of the monies that you have requested and if not just send me an individual message and I will follow up. Just a reminder, I know we talked about this a little bit at the um last uh meeting. It is an AGM election cycle. So, um if you have not already, if you could please let me know when your AGMs are scheduled for. You will have to notify your members as per the procedural bylaw 45 days prior. Um so, it's a bit more of an advanced notice. Um I am working with cardioraphic services to get the uh mailing lists and I am still pushing and um we'll get confirmation soon on whether or not they can provide owner names attached to the addresses. I had a follow-up meeting yesterday. They're still following up with EMPAC. I've kind I've reexplained this is not going to an arbitrary third party that these are actually BIA members that there should be no b barriers from a privacy perspective. Um so hopefully that messaging has got through. Um I don't have a definitive answer as of yet but as soon as I do I will let you all know. >> Yesterday um or this week I don't know what day it is. um the BA annual report checklists. I circulated all of those um so everyone has um the checklist of things that are required for your annual reports. I know that there are some people that have had some challenges with the sync folder. You can I don't I don't care how I get the information. It's just for our our um city records. So, you can either email me if you're having problems with the sync folder or for those of you that have used the sync folders without any issue, um you can continue to use those. And there are some BAS that have some outstanding items from 2025. Um so, if you could please make every effort to get those um documents to me as soon as possible, that would be very much appreciated. And then finally, our RAM team, the research and marketing team within our economic development actually asked me to note that um the social media activity of all of the BAS has been quite impressive um and has been um very noticed. Um, and just to let you guys a friendly reminder, if you would like to have some amplified kind of sharing of some of the things that are happening within your BAS, please remember to add um, ECD as a collaborator, so then it's flagged because it's impossible to track all 12 BAS. Um, but if you add um, ECD as a collaborator on your post, then it'll pop up on there and then there's an opportunity for us to be able to share all of your great stuff beyond So that is all my updates. >> Are there any questions for Christina? Emily? >> Yeah. Um, any update on the budget templates >> through the chair? Yes, actually I have those done. I just [laughter] I haven't sent them out. So, um, thank you for actually bringing that up. So, uh, for those that are new or kind of this is kind of like for the AGM or for your AGM cycles, yes, you should be preparing your budgets in advance of your AGMs and those really should be approved by your boards in advance. Um, I will be circulating, thank you for the reminder, um, the, um, the AGM temp the budget templates. Just a note, those templates will only be used for the reports going to council. I do very much encourage um and suggest that you do have a more detailed breakdown of your budget for your members. Um you will see that um the the template has just more general categories. Um what we're aiming to do is have a more consistent presentation to council and to the public on what your budgets look like. Um, but for the purposes of your members, you may want to be a little bit more granular when you're talking about marketing and advertising. You may want to get into specifically what that means. For the purposes of council, everything you'll see it will be in general categories. I will be sending those up before the end of the week. >> Perfect. Thank you. >> Uh, Susan. And just on those templates through the chair, um on the generalized summary, we have to report to you exactly as you're sending us the template. >> Yes, take a look at the template. If you have any questions, please let me know. Um hopefully it's clear. Um but uh but yes, that is the that is the budget that I would like to have back to me to to attach to the reports that have to go to council. Okay. I just know even in our auditing process, the way our strategic plan is set up doesn't always align with the buckets the way the auditors report them. And um so I'm just hoping that it's not a big makework project for us to pull our numbers out separately to match the template that it might vary from the way that we report based on our strategic pillars. So just uh I'll wait and see. >> Yeah, wait and see. Afterwards, >> they've reviewed it. Yeah, the objective is for your levy to be accounted for to council. >> Yeah, >> but we'll I'll work with all of you if there's any questions. Um I certain we certainly the intention is not to make it a make work but the but there it has been noted that is quite inconsistent in the in the the budgets that are being presented to council. Um so we just want to use this not only um to to make it easier to read but um also to almost act as an education tool for council for them to understand how the budget how the BIA budgets operate um and how your monies are allocated. But I'll work with all of you. >> Thank you. >> Any other questions? >> Okay, I'm going to pass the chair to Susan real quick because I have a question. Christina, um we have spoken around this table previously about um expenditure requests both for shared parking revenue and for contribution operating budgets and the potential for looking at a delegated authority um in order to streamline that process. Do you have an update on that >> through the chair? So the existing policies that are in place um for the contribution to operating budget that was approved in 2013. It does specific it's it's very outdated language. Um it does specifically say that funding requests um to must go to the BIA advisory committee for review and approval. And then the shared parking revenue policy that was approved in 2010 talks about habia to give you an idea how old it is. Um and um that a resolution of habia approving the expenditure request is required. So um that those are the current policies as they stand. Um it >> Okay. Thank you. Um when once we've received the update, um I will uh present a motion to have those policies updated if that's okay. Um any other questions for Christina? Seeing nothing, may I have a mover and a seconder to receive Christina's update. Moved by Emily, seconded by Susan. Uh, I don't believe I took the chair back from Susan, so it was implied, I suppose. [laughter] Uh, all in favor? That motion is carried. Uh so then I will return the chair to Susan so that I can introduce a motion uh with regards to updating the current policies. We're just getting it up on the screen here. Do you want me to read this >> through? So through the chair I think I've captured what you're trying to do. So maybe just take a quick glance and let me know if anything needs to be changed. And then we also just need a seconder for the motion. If anyone is willing, just raise your hand. I saw Emily out of the corner of my eye there. >> Yep. So through the chair, this >> the essence of what you're looking for. >> Correct. >> Perfect. Does anyone need it still up? I don't see any hands. So I'll take it down and then we can just go to questions and if there are none, you can call the vote. >> Sure. Does anybody have any questions? >> Sorry. Through the chair. It' be I believe you handed the chair to >> Right. I'll take the chair back from Susan. [laughter] Does anybody have any questions? >> Sorry, you're the mover of the motion. Yeah. So Susan will have to stick handle. >> Any questions about [laughter] motion? >> So through the chair, I see no hands raised. So you can call the vote. >> Yep. So um we've got a mover and a seconder. All in favor? >> Oh, I can't vote on the chair. [laughter] That is carried. And I will throw the chair back to Naen. Thank you, Susan. Great. Let's move on to statements by members. Uh, does anybody have any updates or items of interest? Um, raise your hand and we'll do that. Anybody? No. Okay. I'll just give a quick update on BASH for those of you that weren't there. Um, it was a fantastic time. For those of you that did pop down, uh, thank you so much for supporting what we're doing. The mayor did make an appearance. I got to go on stage and introduce her and, um, she actually gave a really great shout out to all the BAS, um, for doing the work that we do to bring community together, uh, in particular with with events. Um, so it was really nice to to see that acknowledgement. Um, so I just wanted to pass that on to everybody. Keep up the great work from the mayor. Um, all right, Emily. Muted.
