BIA Subcommittee Reviews Mandate and Conference Lessons - 15 Sep 26
Hamilton · September 16, 2026
Sound check. 1 2 3
Good morning.
>> Good morning.
No,
sorry, I'm just trying to turn down my
speakers. Uh, as we have corn present,

>> Uh myself from Barton Village
and
that's everybody.
>> I don't know if you heard. I wasn't I
couldn't hear. It's councelor Paul's.
I'm here.
>> I got you. Councelor Paul's no.
>> Okay. Thank you. Thank you.
>> Okay. I will now read the land
acknowledgement. City of Hamilton is
situated upon the traditional
territories of the eerie neutral hiron
wendat hodnon and missagas. This land is
covered with the dish with one spoon
wampom belt covenant which was an
agreement between the hodnoson and the
anishabek to share and care for the
resources around the great lakes. We
further acknowledge that this land is
covered with the between the lakes
purchase 1792 between the crown and the
missagas of the credit first nation.
Today, the city of Hamilton is home to
many indigenous people from across
Turtle Island. And we recognize that we
must do more to learn about the rich
history of this land so that we can
better understand our roles as
residents, neighbors, partners, and
caretakers.
May I have a mover and seconder to
approve the agenda as presented?
Moved by Stephanie, seconded by David.
Are there any amendments from committee
members to the agenda?
Seeing nothing.
Uh, do we need
>> to voice the
change that we've made?
>> No, we can do that or maybe
>> Great. Uh, can I just get a hand vote?
Looks good.
Uh that motion is carried.
Are there any declarations of interest?
Seeing none,
may I have a mover and a seconder to
adopt the minutes of the July 21st, 2026
meeting as presented?
Moved by Susie,
seconded by
councelor Wang.
Uh, is there any discussion on the
minutes?
Uh, all in favor? Hand vote.
Motion is carried.
Look at us cruising along.
Items for information.
uh 2027 Winterfest tourism opportunities
for business improvement areas. I would
like to call upon Ryan McHugh, manager
of tourism and events planning and
economic development to provide
committee with an update.
Uh just a quick reminder that
presentations are limited to 10 minutes.
He's not here.
Okie dokie. We're just going to hit the
pause button on that.
In fact, we're also going to hit the
pause button on 7.2.
>> We're going to defer it.
>> So, we just need a motion to defer 7.1.
We need a mover and a secondary.
Everybody, uh, I saw Councelor Wilson
first and Jennifer second.
Uh all in favor
that motion is carried as well.
Moving on to 7.3.
We'll need another mover and a seconder
to defer item 7.2.
>> Oh, we need to do it separately. Okay.
Can I have a mover and a seconder?
Councelor Paul's Jennifer again. Thank
you to defer 7.2. All in favor?
also carried.
Now I can do 7.3.
Okay, great. Uh, International Downtown
Association conference wrap up. Um,
Christina is not with us, so I'm going
to pass the chair to Susie
to provide quick update. Um,
particularly for those of us in the room
that were not able to attend, I thought
it would be um, Christina and I thought
it would be great to be able to provide
a bit of an update on how the conference
went. Um,
and
uh, there will be an opportunity for
those who did attend, if they have
takeaways um, to share them
if they [clears throat] wish to. No
pressure.
Um so for myself I uh found the
conference very valuable and I want to
go ahead and say uh thank you very much
um for the support that we received uh
from the city to be able to attend uh
the conference. Um I think it was really
great to be able to show up uh in the
numbers that we did to represent
Hamilton. Um it was nice to be in the
rooms with people that understood what
was happening. Uh the conversations were
great. The a lot of the sessions uh we
kind of divided and conquered because we
can't all be in multiple places at one
time. So it was very um very valuable I
found to be able to attend the sessions
and contribute to the conversation.
There were some really great takeaways.
Um, one thing that I learned that I was
not aware of is um because there was a
heavy US presence at the uh conference
um and I was grateful for all of the
apologies uh that we were getting in the
room [snorts] um that the way that
things are structured in our
municipality um with the work that the
BAS are doing is um like the structure
is a little bit different in like the
business improvement districts in the
US. Um, and so there were some really
great relationship kind of takeaways
um from from the conference for me um
about just relationship building within
the municipality and how we can better
work together, better work together as
BAS. Um, and that was really the the
major takeaway for me. Um there were
some other cool things around like
streetscaping and uh placem and that
sort of thing as well. Um
am I allowed to now ask if anybody else
has anything they want to share about
the conference? Oh, the chair can do
that. Chair,
>> would anybody else like to add to the
conversation?
All right. Sorry, Emily.
>> Yeah. Um, I'll just echo N's thoughts
that I thought it was a really valuable
experience and definitely appreciate um
the support in being able to go. Um, got
some really cool ideas from just such a
range of topics that they covered there,
which was really great. Um, one that I
attended that I thought was particularly
interesting was just uh the need for
succession planning in all parts,
whether it's by design or not. Um,
things change. So, it's good to plan
ahead for that and make [snorts] sure
you got all your eyes dotted and te's
crossed and have everything um lined up
for the next day. But thank [snorts]
you.
>> Anybody else?
All right, I'm going to pass the chair
back. Oh, Tracy.
Oh, sorry. If you want to go ahead, go
ahead.
>> No, please go ahead.
>> Okay. Thank. So, again, thankful for the
opportunity from ACDEV and the city. Uh,
very beneficial. Exactly what the other
two speakers have said. One thing I
found very interesting given our unique
situation in Westdale is how much money
the universities give to their business
districts that are adjacent. they're not
even within the B bids down there uh to
help support because they understand how
beneficial having a great town downtown
little village is to their university. I
thought that was very interesting and
even though some of the um American uh
BIDs were huge like one made a comment
uh that they had 23 staff. So that kind
of gives you the idea of how large they
are but the same concepts no matter what
how big their cities are or their
staffing is. Um [clears throat] lots of
good uh takeaway and learning points for
all size BAS. Thanks.
>> Did you want to say something more?
>> Yeah, I can.
>> Sure. Go ahead. [snorts]
Uh the Sorry, Naen again. Uh one other
takeaway that I I didn't realize I
didn't know that Toronto had 86 BAS.
>> 86.
>> Wow. Um, I imagine a lot of them are
kind of abuing each other in the way
that like International Village and
Downtown do. Um, but 86, my mind was
just blown that there's that many of
them. So, um, good on all of us for
being 12 strong and, uh, accomplishing
what we do. So, that's all. All right. I
will say a couple words and pass the
chair back to Naen. Um, yeah, thanks
again, Phil, for supporting us and going
to the conference. It's something I've
always wanted to do. I was supposed to
go to Washington last year, but well,
you know, tariffs, so didn't go and
Trump. Um, but appreciate going this
year. I think one thing that I took away
from it was just, you know, doesn't
matter how big your BIA is or your B is.
Um, the the session I really found
interesting was the executive director
CEO session and the number one thing we
talked about was burnout. And I think
that's something that isn't talked about
enough uh amongst all of us. We're
carrying the weight of our worlds and
trying to activate support, you know,
keep pus flowing and some of us have
very small teams and it can be extremely
overwhelming and exhausting. So, I think
just knowing that you're in a room with,
you know, maybe a couple hundred other
people that are going through the same
things and picked up a lot of uh
beneficial uh tips as to how to navigate
that. And then also, again, just uh, you
know, I did a walking tour of Church
Welssley and I thought that was really
interesting. I didn't realize how
similar our BAS actually are. So, it was
just great. And I think getting out of
Hamilton is really important in this
job. I try to leave as much as I can to
get perspective. Um, and I would
encourage everybody else even just to go
to Montreal for a weekend or Toronto
because you do come back rejuvenated and
um, this was a great opportunity for us
to do that. So, thanks again.
>> Okay. Uh, Susan, I see your hand. Go
ahead.
>> I just, uh, want to thank again the city
for allowing us to go. It was a great
experience. Um, you know, I I think the
commonalities between large and small
BAS and bids is is interesting. I think,
you know, the real um
the real issue coming back from
something where you do feel re-energized
and you have a lot of great information
is now trying to figure out how to
implement some of those things on the
scale that we deal with. Um, a lot of
the specific sessions that I attended
were ones where I've either identified a
weakness within our own BIA or something
that I would like to grow or figure out
how to um to tackle next. But it is um a
little bit intimidating sitting there
knowing that we need to do a better job
metrics, but we don't have the staff to
do the followup that's required when
we're just running from one event to the
next or when I recognize that we need to
do succession planning. But that kind of
means taking yourself away from your
day-to-day job to do a more strategic
overview of whatever the issue is that
you're dealing with. So, you know, my
takeaway from the conference was now
just looking at some of those great
examples and trying to figure out how to
say no to the things that don't allow us
to do some of those things for growth or
figuring out how to do things
differently or think differently so that
we can accomplish all of those things
because I think uh the commonalities is
that we're all trying to achieve the
same things but we're doing it on one
and two staff versus 23. So that's kind
of the interesting challenge going
forward for me.
>> Thanks Susan. Anybody else?
I I will say that there was um one
session that was super helpful that I
forgot to mention which was um
navigating a major infrastructure
project. Uh which there's lots of nod
head nodding in the room too. Uh we did
take some notes on that one. Yeah. So,
um yeah, happy to um provide the notes
that I took in the sessions and would
encourage uh anyone else that took them
to be able to share those as well. So,
okie dokie. Um if nobody else wants to
share anything, uh then may I have a
mover and a seconder to receive 7.3? I
see Susan's hand and David.
Uh all in favor
carried.
Okay.
7.4
uh business improvement area membership
model. I'm going to pass the chair to
Susie again um so that I can speak a
little bit to this. There have been a
number of questions around the associate
membership model that we use in Barton
Village. Um, and so I just wanted to
kind of speak to that a little bit on a
grander scale where I can chat with all
of you at the same time. Um, so this
membership model was born out of
actually a social media campaign that I
uh that my team ran the first uh holiday
season that I was with Barton Village.
And we did like a tag your favorite
Barton Village business and uh win a
chance at a a $100 gift card uh to that
business. And we learned very quickly,
like within 48 hours, that no one knows
where the boundaries of our BIA are.
Um, but the other thing that we learned
was the the businesses and the community
groups that are in our surrounding area
that are so so valuable to the community
and the fabric that that makes up Barton
Village that we felt like there needed
to be a way to be able to include them
which was also um
sort of respectful of the existing
membership model. Um, and so what we did
was created this associate membership.
And effectively what it is is it allows
for business and property owners that
fall outside of our boundaries but our
but are part of our community
um to opt in as a member to the BIA by
paying a membership fee, an annual fee
that is in line with the size of their
business um and would be in line with
the uh levy that would come from that
property if they were inside the
boundary. And so we created like a
multi-tiered system. Now in Barton
Village, we recognize uh that for a
small business to um pay a fee that they
were not paying previously to be part of
a community that they kind of always
assumed they were a part of um can be
challenging. So we actually do a
quarterly invoice to break down those
fees for those businesses
um so that it's a little bit more uh
financially feasible for them to opt in.
The additional benefit of this is they
can do like a trial run of three months
or six months. Um, and if they find the
value is there, want to continue, great.
And if they don't, or if something
happens and they end up having to shut
down their business or move it and they
are no part no longer part of that
community that they can just cancel
their membership. There's no term
limits. there's no expectations in terms
of um you know that that membership
continuing beyond the quarter for which
they've paid. Um when they become an
associate member it means that in Barton
Village what we've done is we've given
them the same access to things that we
have control over. So for example access
to our social media channels if they
wish to be included in that. If we are
running events and we are offering up
participation in those events at no fees
to our existing membership, they are
also included in that. So that means
that they could participate in Bash for
example and there's no vendor fee for
them to come and participate.
um for Taste of Barton, for example,
which is coming up on the 24th if you
don't already have your tickets. Uh they
also could participate in that um and
receive the same supports from the BIA
that any other um membership business
would receive. There are limitations.
So, for example, we can't change the CIP
programs that are provided by the city.
So we cannot authorize access to those
programs beyond the city limitations. So
we have made that very clear in our um
membership uh information that we send
out um that we we have no poll there. We
don't have the ability to like vouch for
them or anything like that that they
just would continue to not have access
to those programs unfortunately. But we
do have grants and support programs
through the BIA that our committees
adjudicate and we have the ability to
extend that to those associate members.
So that might be something like a
property improvement grant uh which is a
matching grant we offer up to $2,500
um which comes from our vacancy audit uh
funding through ECDEV. Thank you for
that. Um so those are the kinds of
things that are offered up.
I'm happy to share our marketing
materials and things like that. I didn't
bring them with me today, but I'm happy
to distribute those to anybody that is
interested. Just fire me an email and I
can send them out or I can send them
through Christina as well and she can
send them out.
>> Okay, great. Thanks, Naen. I think we
would all be interested in that,
especially those of us who are s I know
I've been dragging my feet on getting
associated memberships done for years.
Is there any questions for Naen or
comments?
Okay, seeing none, may I have a mover
and seconder to receive the information
update? Moved by Stephanie, seconded by
Emily. All in favor? Carried. And I will
pass the chair back to Naine.
Thank you.
>> Sorry. [clears throat]
7.5 terms of reference. Um, so included
in the agenda, I believe, was a copy of
the terms of reference. Um, may I have a
mover and a seconder to receive this
item?
Moved by Susie, seconded by Doris.
Um,
sorry. Uh, all in favor?
That motion is carried.
Um, I'm gonna pass the chair to Susie
again.
I'm so glad you're here today.
Uh
because I'd like to um introduce a
motion
and I'd like to move that the business
improvement area subcommittee strike an
ad hoc working group to review the
mandate of the terms of reference and
bring forward recommendations to a
future business improvement area
subcommittee meeting.
What? Oh,
I'm not chair so I can't say that.
>> Okay, Tammy seconding. [laughter]
All in favor?
>> Do you want to talk about it?
>> Do you want to talk about it? Okay.
>> Oh, we have to go ahead.
>> Councelor H.
>> Thank you. I think that um I really
appreciate this motion that uh Naen has
brought forward. I think that one of the
challenges too is that this this
committee has uh is so different from
other subcommittees that council has
access to having uh all of the EDS from
all of our 12 BIAS sit on this
committee. I think that there's a real
opportunity with really rethinking how
we can support each other, but also
having um continuously having the
counselors sit here to be a willing and
uh participating ear. But we can do more
than just ensure that we have staff
recommendations or or just guest
speakers. I think that there's a real
opportunity to really think rethink what
are some of those um working groups that
might happen out of this committee. What
are some initiatives that might stem and
come out of this committee that maybe um
the committee is the lead on that rather
than staff being the lead on that? So I
think that this opportunity to look at
the terms of reference because the terms
of reference are really quite narrow in
terms of what this committee can do. uh
examining it and and expanding the scope
for example might be really good. I this
term I had the privilege of serving as
chair for open for business subcommittee
which is great but it it also didn't
have the same small business voice that
would sit that that had that same sort
of leverage. Um and so I think that this
committee taking advantage of the fact
that we have voting eds that participate
that can also um identify different
funding mechanisms and different
initiatives. We should be taking the
most advantage of that and really trying
to push that forward. So I really
appreciate that. So, I hope that um this
ad hoc group is able to use the time
between essentially now and a new
council being struck to have those
conversations. So, perhaps my question
to clerks is do you need a counselor to
be on these ad hoc working committees at
all?
>> Uh through the chair to councelor Wang?
No, you do not. And this would be
brought back to our next meeting
December 15th. Uh excellent. Thank you.
That's all my questions chair. That's
it. Thank you.
Okay, great. Um, so Nadine and I are
happy to take the lead on this. Uh, we
have met about this already, but if
there anybody else who wants to be a
part of this working group, let us know.
Okay, so David, Tracy, Jennifer, Susan,
Doris, Stephanie, Emily.
>> So, sorry through the chair. It has to
be under quorum. So, it has to be seven
members and under. So, one, two, three,
four.
>> Okay, Emily's out.
So, Nadine, myself, Tracy, David, Susan,
that's five. Jennifer, six.
Stephanie, seven.
>> Seven.
>> Emily, eight.
>> No, I'm
>> You don't want Okay,
>> it's seven.
>> Okay, then that's it.
Okay. So, the working group can meet and
discuss the terms of reference uh when
we set time to do so and we will bring
back recommendations to a future
meeting. Ideally December 15th, but uh
might be January we were talking, wasn't
it? Yeah, potentially. Okay. So, may I
please have a vote? All in favor?
And carried.
I'll pass the chair back to Nine.
Great.
Okay. Um, general information, other
business updates from the business
development office. Uh, Christina is not
with us today,
but we have Phil in the room.
if anybody has questions.
>> Hi, Phil.
Um, how are how's it going with the main
Ottawa closure? Um, because I know that
at the last uh
GIC, I think I put forward that motion.
Was it GIC or was I BIA? Anyway, um, so
how's it going with the main Ottawa? Um,
how's it working? How are the businesses
being supported? Uh from a staff
perspective, I can always ask Stephanie,
but I think that just getting a sense
from the staff perspective of how that's
working. Thank you.
>> Sure. Uh Phil Caldwell, manager of
commercial districts and small business.
Um
we haven't heard too much from the
businesses uh at that intersection.
However, we have become aware of a
couple businesses who have experienced
some significant impacts arising from
that. Um, we are in the process of
engaging with those businesses to better
understand their concerns. Um,
uh, and that was found out through the,
um, the business surveys that were done
along the main street corridor. Um, so
yeah, [clears throat] not too much, but
those who are feeling it are feeling it
significantly. [snorts]
>> Thank you. My second question is
actually um an update you brought up to
us at the MA open for business
subcommittee. I wonder if you can give
us a quick um understanding of how the
phasing or how the business supports are
working for the main two-way conversion.
Thank you.
>> Sure. Uh yeah, so I did provide an
update at the open for business uh
subcommittee last week. [laughter] Um
and uh basically uh we have set up a
micro site uh that is available to
businesses to engage with economic
development for resources and other
supports that might be available if
they're experiencing uh impacts or
concerns respecting the two-way main
conversion. Um, as part of that, uh,
previously mentioned business survey,
uh, business ambassadors, uh, went out
along the Main Street corridor and did a
targeted, um, engagement with business
owners and, um, presented information
about the project, including that
website that we've provided, as well as
staff contacts that they can reach out
to to uh, make any concerns known. Um
about four uh sorry about 500 uh
postcards were provided to businesses
through the corridor ranging from Dund
to uh the Delta.
And of those about 100 of the businesses
expressed some level of concern about
the impacts arising from the resurfacing
project but also the two-way main. Um
and then a smaller amount were concerned
about future access of of customers to
their businesses resulting from the
change in direction on the on the road.
Um but that otherwise uh we haven't
received too many inquiries directly
from businesses. Um but uh it's been
helpful insights for us. And then I I
believe uh the phase one communication
of uh the city's corporate comms um has
wrapped up for pre-construction and
they're now beginning the process of
developing the phase 2 um communication
tools as the uh as the the resurfacing
and conversion start to come closer.
>> Thank you. I think chair I just wanted
to bring that up because one it was
information shared at another
subcommittee um but two if uh IDA the
conference had a particular actual
portion talking about uh business
disruption during major construction
this is exactly the type of strategy
that we can learn from. So going through
that phase one right now it's feels like
with that first sort of push of 500
business cards but only and then
receiving about 100 back I think is a
fairly good return on investment so far
I think that there is a real opportunity
for us to ramp up and look at when
actual construction and shovels in the
ground and actual disruption happens for
phase two that's where we can start to
learn from those practices and see if we
can rejig re re revamp and try and
support the businesses along LRT
construction or I mean we're still going
through it with Maine and Ottawa but
ideally that's done in three months.
>> Yes.
>> Yes. Three months. Um and then we'll go
from there. But yeah, chair I think that
this is a very important topic for all
of our business improvement areas to be
looking at as well as the open for
business subcommittee. And so I think
there's real opportunity with the
overlap. Thank you.
Any
other questions?
Just gonna pass the chair to Susie real
quick so that I can ask a question.
Phil, are you able to just provide a
quick uh sort of high level update on
the CIP changes?
>> Oh, just that. [laughter] Um,
[clears throat]
sure. Uh, I'll I'll keep it pretty high
level. Again at the open for business
subcommittee there there was a
presentation by John Paul who loan who
on our team led that review. [snorts] Um
and there was a slide deck provided that
is was meant to be basically used by
anyone to to better understand the
changes comprehensively. Um but at a
high level
uh council did approve uh the changes
that were proposed by staff uh at August
the August 5th city council meeting.
>> [snorts]
>> uh our appeal period uh legislated to us
was uh completed on September 8th and
the programs have come into effect on
September 9th last week. Uh there are
new programs uh related to office
attraction within the downtown core.
There is a new art mural program that uh
is being led by our tourism and culture
partners um but funded by economic
development.
uh that's to try and promote more murals
within the city and a big change there
is is paying the artists rather than the
property owners as part of that. Um
we've also made changes to our facade
grant program in terms of the dollar
amounts mainly outside of the BAS to
increase it to match um but also
expanded the availability of the program
for um safety improvements for
businesses. So, SEPTED crime prevention
through environmental design assessments
and physical improvements coming out of
that. Um, the graffiti removal has
continued to remain. Uh, and I think
those are the highlights I think that
would be applicable to to this
committee. But, um, I would highly
suggest looking at the agenda for the
open for business subcommittee. There's
a slide deck that that goes into it in
in much more detail.
Oh, and uh also our online application
forms are now live as part of one of our
open for business outcomes to improve
our customer journey. Um that is now
live and has been a bit of a work in
progress and online payments are coming
soon Octoberish.
So um we're very excited about some of
our customer uh journey improvements as
well.
>> Thank you um for that uh impromptu
update. Uh I know as well um that an
email was sent out to offer up the
marketing um tool for that. Uh I know
we'll be including it in our mailouts
for our AGM to try and uh put one stamp
on an envelope instead of two.
>> If I may add to that, I um yes, I did
send the email to everybody rising from
open open for business. A great
suggestion. Uh we've printed a thousand
copies. Um, I've heard from four BAS so
far and John Paul will be reaching out
to deliver those. Hey, you got them
already. Um, and so please, they're
they're ready and waiting if you're uh
interested in in having those sent out
to your members as part of your AGM
notices.
>> I see a question from Susan.
>> Hey Phil, we have 250 members. Um, I'm
wondering if we can get a digital copy
of it so that we can include it with
digital in invitations and u maybe get a
smaller amount that we can actually hand
out at the meeting versus taking a
quarter of your printed pieces that you
already have.
>> Uh, through the chair. Yeah, happy to
happy to sort it in whatever manner
works best for your BIA. Um, let us know
how many hard copies you'd like. We can
deliver them. Um, and I think the
digital copy was in my email was
attached.
>> Okay. Sorry. Okay. All good. Thanks.
>> All right. I'm gonna pass the chair back
to Naen.
>> Uh, great. Thank you. Um, may I have a
mover mo move
and a seconder to receive the update?
I see Susan and David.
Uh, all in favor?
That motion is carried.
Statements by members. Members of
committee, do you have any updates or
items of interest? If so, please
indicate by raising your hand so your
name can be added to the speakers list.
Anyone want to kick it off? Suzy?
Yeah. I just want to share that on
September 27th as part of Open Streets,
we are doing our village pride Halloween
event. So would encourage everyone to
come out to that. Should be a really fun
day. We shifted the uh dance uh
programming to the back to the rear of
Ferguson station in June and it was a
really great turnout. We saw hundreds of
people come. So if you haven't been to
one of our pride events, highly
recommend coming to this one. It's
really fun. Everybody dresses up. So
looking forward to that. Our AGM is on
October 6th. Um so just gearing up for
that. And then we are heavily working on
our holiday market right now. So, if you
know of any good vendors that are
looking to be involved in a great
downtown market, send them our way. Um,
but yeah, it's really busy. That's all.
Thank you.
Anybody else?
Stephanie Wiler from Ottawa Street. Hey
everyone, our road closure sidewalk sale
thanks to very generous funds from the
city of Hamilton and W for office is
September 26th. It's from 10:00 a.m. to
6:00 p.m. We have lots of activations on
the street. Please come down to Ottawa
Street. Our last thrift crawl of this
year of 2026 is October 16th.
>> 16 or 17.
>> 17 is a Saturday
>> in that one.
>> Okay. Thank you.
>> No problem.
>> Please come out to Ottawa Street and
support local.
>> Thanks, Stephanie.
>> Anybody else?
>> Okay, I'll go.
Um, this coming Saturday, September
19th, we have a yard crawl happening in
Barton Village. Um, the footprint of
this is surrounding our lot at 647
Barton Street East. Um, but the entire
footprint reaches from Birch to
Barnesdale, Princess to Cannon. Uh, so
anybody living in that area, we've
invited to participate in a yard sale
from 11 till 3. Um, but we'll be hosting
the heart of the yard crawl uh in our
lot um with food truck and vintage
vendors and music and such. Uh September
24th of course is Taste of Barton if you
haven't heard it on Legend 102.9. Uh we
are giving away tickets, four packs of
tickets every day this week. Thanks to
Darren Lman and the team. Um I got to
hear it yesterday just randomly as I got
in the truck. They were doing the
giveaway. It was very exciting. I almost
wanted to text in myself to win the
tickets. Uh, and then Hamilton Day, of
course, uh, October 31st. Um, stay
tuned. More details to come, but a fun
Halloween themed event happening in an
alleyway uh, on Barton. Nothing like
nothing like a Barton Street alley hang
um for Halloween, the scariest night of
the year. Uh, it's going to be a lot of
fun. um projection art and music and
food and all kinds of fun stuff. And
then our AGM is November 26th, of
course. Um it is part AGM, part comedy
show. Always feel free to attend.
That's it from Barton Village.
Anybody else?
Seeing nobody, may I have a mover and a
seconder to receive these statements
from members. Jennifer's hand always
goes up so quickly and Betatina um as
the seconder. All in favor?
Wonderful.
>> That motion is carried. Councelor Hang
has a comment. Is that allowed?
[clears throat]
>> Okay, it's allowed. Yay. Um, I'm
cognizant that this is my last sub
committee, BIA subcommittee before
election. So, I wanted to thank the
subcommittee members for all of your
dedication and your hard work. It has
been an honor and a privilege to be at
this table. So, I am very thankful for
the work you guys do and continue to do
because it is tough out there. So, thank
you. I hope to get reelected and I hope
to get back onto this subcommittee, but
either way, I'm a big supporter of you
guys. So, thank you so much.
Thank you, Councelor Wang. We also
appreciate your efforts as a small
business champion in the city,
regardless of your role.
I'm getting a thumbs up from councelor
Wilson.
Uh there being no further business, the
business improvement area subcommittee
is adjourned at 11:10 a.m. Thank you
everybody. Have a wonderful rest of your
week.
